Proposed CBS learning outcomes (DOC)
In October, 2003, the CBS Curriculum Task Force was convened to exam our current Bachelor of Science curriculum and develop an undergraduate program that will move the University of Minnesota to the forefront of biology education. The committee is charged with developing and articulating a vision of undergraduate education by defining CBS’s education goals and learning outcomes; examining current curricula, course, and teaching laboratories; making recommendations for necessary changes and improvements; and devising strategies to implement and achieve the proposed changes.
The committee will base their analyses and recommendations on data from peer institution and other leaders in biology education, scholarly analyses of undergraduate biology and science education, and data from students and faculty at the University of Minnesota. In addition, the committee will include perspectives from university administrators, other departments and colleges, and students as it seeks to create an interdisciplinary approach to biology education. All faculty, staff and students are encouraged to submit their feedback to the task force. Below you will find a listing of the task force’s membership, agendas, minutes and additional resources.
The task force presented its Proposed Learning Outcomes at the CBS All College Meeting on December 16, 2003. Please review the learning outcomes (DOC) and send us your feedback.
